In some of the class at my university I have noticed that they allow older retired people to attend classes on a non-credit basis (at least I think that it is primarily on a non-credit basis). In other classes I have taken I have noticed quite a few older people who just decided to make a career change. I really like the experience of taking a class and having someone who is older (sometimes older than the professor), has more experience and is wiser being one of my fellow students.

Don't feel old or out of place, you are never too old to learn something new, never. My only hope is that when I am my grandparent's age (87--assuming I live that long) that I still have a desire to learn.

And by the way, welcome to the board!

I did the career change at age 45. Our agency has hired several folks over the age of 40 and has been pleased with the results. As stated earlier, you don't get mistaken for a rookie quite so quickly, plus in 35-40 years, you do learn to deal with people differently.

I am absolutely thrilled with the new career and imagine your enthusiasm will continue as well.

    Welcome to the asylum!
