Hi all! I begin my studies in criminal justice (latent evidence) August 23, but I've read tons on true crime & my favorite topic is serial killers. Profiling & investigation are where my focus lies. Hopefully, I'll be heading into the criminal justice field in 2-3 years once I receive my Associate's degree. May go for my Bachelor's, but I already have a Bachelor's in Spanish.
Just wanted to meet others in the field & get different perspectives on this line of work! Thanks!

Already having a b.s. in spanish would definitely land you a job in the south in law enforcement. If you want to pursue serial killers, a good place to look into is the Behavioral Science Unit for the FBI. That's basically their job. To track and catch serial killers. Most of them have law enforcement and/or psychology backgrounds. John Douglas has many books out of some of his stories when he was with the FBI's BSU. Just fyi.. .Welcome

Jynkxxie...I actually applied to the FBI a few years ago & heard nothing. I've had my degree since 1998.

Yeah, sadly, a degree in BS is a dime-a-dozen. For the FBI, you need more "in-demand" linguistic degrees/experience. Also, I think the FBI likes something like 7 years of solid job experience. That usually knocks many students out of it for a while.
Their big drive right now appears to be for those with hard science degrees (engineers, bio, chemsitry, etc) and middle eastern language abilities.

Darin...I graduated from UNC-Greensboro & we're actually moving back there (actually we're in W-S right now). It's such a nice city, albeit busy. I love Greensboro during this time of year.
Where are ya? Martinsville, VA? I have a co-worker who lives there & works here. Yeah, I dunno why...
