A snout has told me he's got a set of nostrils, so go and get a W so we can spin his drum to see if he's got any monkey gear - The Sweeney.

Hi. I am new here. What exactly does a police chaplain do?
My primary responsibility is to the officer and his/her family. I provide pastoral and emotional support to the officers and police families. Sometimes, sadly to be sure, that includes when officers are shot or injured. I also assist the officer in doing death notifications, crisis intervention, and intervention during domestic disputes. At a crime scene or a traffic scene, I will be with the family of victims while the officers are doing the investigation.
In our department we are on call for a twelve or twenty-four hour period of time. I ride with the police twice a week, once for a part of their shift, and then for a full shift. Some of the other department chaplains will ride only when they are on call. I find it a good way to get to know the officers by going out with them a lot. And also, its a lot of fun - except high speed pursuits. (I want out of the car!!!)
Different departments use their chaplains differently.
Take care
Geo
