    Hello

Hi. My name is George and I'm 19 years old working on becoming a Paramedic. I am an avid motorcycle rider and I was curious about a few things. First if you are accelerating on a bike and you start to come up into a wheelie but put it right back down what kind of ticket would a cop give you? My second question seems kinda stupid but I have friends who ride Supermoto with me and they treat the streets like an urban park. They will drive off the road and jump a pile of dirt or ride down a hill to another street. Basically not follow the course of the road. What kind of ticket or jail time would that result in? Just curious questions, answers would be greatly appreciated.

George, Welcome to RP from the Florida Panhandle!

You'll need to tell us what state you live in because that could make the difference as to what charges you could get. But here in Florida, if your front wheel leaves the ground AT ALL and I see it, you're getting a ticket for a bit over $1,000 (I believe it's $1,056 right now, but they just changed and I haven't printed the new fines out yet.)

    See the statute:

316.2085 Riding on motorcycles or mopeds.—
    (2) A person shall ride upon a motorcycle or moped only while sitting astride the seat, with both wheels on the ground at all times, facing forward, and with one leg on each side of the motorcycle or moped. However, it is not a violation of this subsection if the wheels of a motorcycle or moped lose contact with the ground briefly due to the condition of the road surface or other circumstances beyond the control of the operator.
As for the other, I'm not quite sure, but I would make an argument for careless driving:

    316.1925 Careless driving.—
    (1) Any person operating a vehicle upon the streets or highways within the state shall drive the same in a careful and prudent manner, having regard for the width, grade, curves, corners, traffic, and all other attendant circumstances, so as not to endanger the life, limb, or property of any person. Failure to drive in such manner shall constitute careless driving and a violation of this section.
    (2) Any person who violates this section shall be cited for a moving violation, punishable as provided in chapter 318.
