Hello all,
About a year and a half ago, a detective from our county's cyber crime division came to my college for a speech/Q&A. I became a little more interested in LE as a result. He mentioned that the city or county (or both) had a ride along program, and any one interested should check it out. I was 19 at the time, still trying to finish all my college courses, so I decided to hold off for a while.
And here I am, arriving at "a while," having completed an Associate's degree and still curious about exploring this career. I've always held favorable regard with LEOs, and have known many through the years who worked for different depts: my friend's mother who worked for the city, my classmate/team partner for the Sheriff, and a good friend, mentor and Brother of mine who retired from the state - all of whom are great people.
I'm going to be inquiring about attending the local dept's citizen's police academy, and going on a ride along. I think I'm too old to be a Police Explorer (I'm 21 now). Any further light you could shed or words of wisdom that would be beneficial to my exploration would also be great
Anyway, thanks for reading and hopefully my intro wasn't too awfully boring
