    Matchbox 20

These guys are one of my all time favorite bands. I can literally listen to "Yourself or Someone like you" for hours on end. I saw them a couple of years ago when they toured with Train. Awesome concert! Both bands were even better live!

Well, my wife works for a local radio station as their Graphic Designer/Web Administrator and she got me a pair of tickets for Wednesday's concert with Alanis Morrisette. That's cool enough in my book. :D

She just emailed me and told me to make sure that I dress nicely for my picture with the band when I go backstage to meet them!! We have to be there a few hours before the show for the meet and greet complete with pictures and autographs. Atlantic Records will be introducing us.:cool:

    Yeah...I'm stoked. :D:cool:

Actually this is her repaying me. I arranged for her to go to a Taylor Hicks concert in Denver where she met him by his bus and got his autograph. ;)

But yeah, I still do owe her.

Never seen the whole band. I took my wife to see Rob Thomas a few years ago when he toured on his solo album. Put on a pretty good show.

That's awesome! I wish it were me.

I saw Alanis in Atlanta back in '96. She put on a great concert.

I also like MB20...less so their newer stuff, but Yourself of Someone Like You got me through a lot of crappy nights when I was younger. I saw them around the release of their second album; as I recall it was a pretty good show (which if I remember correctly was with Everclear and someone else)

I'm seeing that show in Reno next Friday! I hope MB20 doesn't play all new stuff. I'm not a huge fan of the latest album. And hell, I've wanted to see Alanis Morrisette since she had the video where she was all naked and blurry. Ah, memories of my adolescence.

Saw them a few weeks ago...

They put on a great show, you will have fun. Oh, and they are a GREAT bunch of guys, very down to earth and very-non-rockstarish.

They do play a lot of their old stuff....

    Like Ruby said....

    THIS CONCERT IS FREAKIN AWESOME!!!

Ok, now that that has been said...

The meet and greet was very organized and restricted. There were about 30 of us that went back to meet them. We were able to get one picture, and a group one at that (Our "group" consisted of 6 of us, so the pic should turn out pretty good). The Atlantic rep took it and should be emailing it within the next day or so.

I got autographs from each member, and got to talk to each of them for a few minutes as they made their rounds. I've followed MB20 since they hit the airwaves in '96 as we are all from the same hometown (Orlando). Paul (the former drummer now guitar extraordinaire) grew up in the same suburb I did. Rob graduated from Lake Brantley HS, which was down the street from where I grew up. Brian, the bassist, is a complete nut and Kyle, the lead guitarist, was very friendly. That is the one thing that really impressed me. Each and every member of the band is very down to earth and took the time to talk to each of us for almost 5 minutes.

Each one was talking about their kids as they made their way around. The funniest one was Rob talking about his son Mason. Mason is nine and lives with his mother (not Rob's current wife) but he was lucky enough to tour with his Dad for a few shows. Apparently a tradition with Alanis is to trash the dressing room before the show...and Mason got to help a few times. :D

We didn't get to meet Alanis, but her concert ROCKED! This was my first time seeing her live, and I was very impressed with how "true" her vocals are. Every note was spot on with the CD versions, but she mixed it up enough to let you know it was live. She did mostly her old songs, but threw in 3-4 new ones. She is short, but as Rob put it, she's as cool and talented as she is a badass.

The opening act was Mutemath, a band from New Orleans. Their music can be classified as a mix between My Chemical Romance and Blue Man Group. Very talented musicians, pretty good music. We bought their CD during one of the intermissions and got it signed by the members of the band and got a pic taken with them. I'll upload that one soon.

Finally, MB20....WOW! Even better than when I saw them with Train. They played almost every song from "Yourself or someone like you" (including my favorite "Hang") and 5-6 new ones from "Exile". They even covered a Cracker song..."Stoned" and made it sound like they originally recorded it. They rocked the house and sounded every bit the professionals that each of them are.

You will not be disappointed with the show. I highly recommend that if at all possible, you try and catch these guys on tour.
