A guy who works with my wife copied a few books he had on tape onto a CD for her. The only problem is that he copied them in MP4...and she can't listen to them in her car player, where she wants them.

I thought that MP4 was a video format

Now she wants a digital player for her birthday, so I guess I'll be looking at Zune's. Did I mention I hate anything with an Apple on it? ;)

MPEG2 and MPEG4 are the video formats. MP3 is the audio format we listen to on digital players and computers. There are other formats but those are the most common.

MP4 is just a container (like a ZIP file). You can put just about anything into it. MP4 usually contains H.264 / AAC or MP4-Video / AAC.

MP4 is sometimes used for audio, but it is usually renamed .m4a when only audio is present.

She will need an AAC player in order to play the M4A files.

I would suggest walmart. They even back up all your songs so if anything happens they will give your money back for all of them or credits. Limewire is pretty good too, as long as you pay per month.
