    Military to LEO transition help

So I have been on active duty army since before 9/11. not far from retirement but, the constant time away from my family has become too much. I will leave active duty in less than two years (which means at least another deployment). Looking at law enforcement work in south florida. Any advice on the transition or being a guardsmen/Reservist and LEO. Thank you.

Not to try to dissuade you going back home (I left a federal LE gig myself to move my family back home so I can definitely relate), but you may wish to do some further research on recent changes (i.e. decreases) to law enforcement retirements in Florida.

Just a suggestion you may not have thought of, but while civilian LE is a great job, but you may want to see if your re-enlisting with the US Coast Guard (who are very active in maritime law enforcement, particularly in the southeast/Gulf of Mexico) may be more advantageous for you if it's possible to be stationed in FL.

Very good points. Thank you for your response. Retirement is a player in my decision for sure, but I was lucky enough to get some good advice early in my military career about saving. Good call on the coast I will do some research on transfer options and training.
