Is intel entry level for enlisted?

When I graduate college in about a year and a half I would like to enlist in the Army. I want my MOS to be Counterintelligence Agent, which I think is 97B. My question is this...Is this something that I can get into right after basic or do I have to serve a few years in something else and then change to intel. I would think that I wouldn't be able to get intel. right off the back. Is it a hard or complicated thing to do to change MOS while already doing something else. How would I go about changing it.

you can get into intel as entry level private, counterintelligence agent however was entry level when i went in, but could have been changed, you need to ask an active recruiter if it is entry level or not. as far as changing your MOS, reclassing is done dyring the last 13 months of the contract you sign. I.E. you enlist as a tanker with a 4 year deal. you serve 3 years, then have a shot at changing. exceptions to the rule are jobs that arent entry level, and low strenthed MOS's......all having their own requirements, like CID, Special Forces and Explosives ordinance disposal. granted you meet their individual specific criteria it is understood you can reclass at any time, in lou of your current contract.

    97b

I am a former 97B who got out in '97. While in I saw the MOS go from prior enlisted only to entry-level. Word on the street from the many CI friends still in the business, including some very senior people involved in rewriting several regulations and field manuals pertaining to CI, it looks like it is going back to prior enlisted agents only. Having been part of both sides and having been prior enlisted when I went into the MOS, I am very happy it is going back to this. 97B is not an MOS for entry level off the street personnel. You should have a background other than CI and have gained some general Army experience before getting the badge.

Sure there were SOME guys off the street who did well, however, that was the exception and not the rule. I really hope to see CI get back to what it used to be before the Clinton era military ruined it.

however if it is entry level, jump on it. it will be an easy crossover transition to CID, which i am positive is NOT entry level

additionally...forgot to comment that when i was in there was a HUGE difference in holding the MOS of 97B and actually being an accredited agent. to get accredited there were many more qualifications needed, but the mos itself was entry level, then they trained you up
