Need some help

Hello,
I may enlist in the Marine Corps this month and I want to be an MP. I just have a few questions and concerns regarding this. I have consumed alcohol underage before but I'm not too worried about that. My biggest concern is that I have smoke marijuana before. Not to an excessive degree, but at a time is was at a level of maybe 3 times a month..maybe a little more. I have not smoked in 6 months. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this would hurt my chances of becoming an MP...or even a police officer at all?

Depends, how many total times. The fact it's only been 6 months since you last smoked isn't going to help you much. If you only smoked 3 times a month for 1 month (3 times total) that's not too terrible. If you smoked 3 times a month every month for 10 years, that's a different story.

How many times in your entire life - in your best estimate without underestimating - have you smoked marijuana? Also, is marijuana the only illegal drug you've used, and if not, what else?

While I have never had the honor of serving in the armed forces in any capacity...

It is my understanding that it is much MUCH easier to become an MP than to become a civilian Law Enforcement Officer.

I have smoked probably a total of like 30 times. I mean most of these were two years ago. and I did shrooms once, but that was about a year or more ago

That would be a permanent DQ in my Department. Don't know how the Corps will see it.

Mushroom usage use to be a non-waiver disqualifer for the Army. Not sure about now days.

Your best bet is to go to a recruiting station and ask. And yes, be honest. If you become a MP you will have to get a Secret Clearance adjudicated and they will go back and talk to folks.

Lying to enlist is in violation of the UCMJ and will get you tossed out if they find out and will get you a Dishonorable Discharge.

Last guy I helped get kicked out the Army got a DD (for smoking dope in one of my barracks) can't even work at Wal-Mart or Mickey D's.
