    Passing the rifle test

I don't know how or if it is done in the Air Force, but I know in the army there is a part in the basic training where you must qualify in using the rifle and other weapons. I was wondering how much practice do they give you before the actual test? Also, what happens if you struggle and are not a proficient shooter? Do you get kicked out? I don't plan on failing basic, I just thought that it was a sensible question to ask. I've never used a gun except for a BB gun once and that was years ago. Should I find a way to practice before I enlist(have to graduate college first(1 1/2 yrs left). Lets say someone does struggle, is there any spare time where instructors can give individual attention and work with the person.

personal attention no, If you lucky to work at the range, then you might get some extra practice. If you have good people in your series, they will 'help' you through. If not, you will be recycled and you will try again.

A Explorer in my post who is in the process of enlisting in the USMC went out with a recruiter and put a coule of rounds thru the M16. Dunno if the other branches have anything like that.

Actually, the people who do the best (usually) at rifle qual are the people with no prior experiance with firearms. I am sure you have nothing to worry about. There are pleanty of people in the army who can't shoot worth a crap.

this is a perfect statement. i went into the usmc without ever firing a rifle and qualified as an expert. just pay attention, focus, maintain sight picture, squeeze the trigger and BAM! bullseye!
