    USCG-LE specific rating?

A while ago on the forums at military.com, someone posted something about the USCG possible making a LE specific rating in the future(might have been a memo or something), meant to post this here and ask if it was true, but I completly forgot and when I looked on that site today, all of the threads disapeared.

So, has any USCG people heard anything about a LE specific rating coming up in the future?

    thanks

Dan, they decided not to go with the specific rating and make it a qualification. Just as the BM's have a qual of Surfman (the elite boat drivers in rough surf), you can get the LE qualification. Anyone can get it but some ratings have more time to achieve it then others.

Here is just a piece of that announcemnt that we got.....

    2. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE WITH YOUR FEEDBACK, THAT WE
MUST IMPROVE LAW ENFORCEMENT PROFICIENCY AND PROVIDE
FOR CONTINUITY OF ASSIGNMENTS FOR LE PROFESSIONALS.
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS A TEAM HAS BEEN
    EVALUATING ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS. AFTER THOROUGHLY
EXAMINING THIS ISSUE I HAVE CHOSEN TO CREATE AN LE
QUALIFICATION PROGRAM. THE LE QUALIFICATION PROGRAM
WILL BE SIMILAR IN NATURE TO THE SURFMAN PROGRAM.
JUST AS SURFMAN QUALIFICATIONS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY
ENHANCED BEYOND BASIC COXSWAIN QUALIFICATIONS, THE LE
QUALIFICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERABLY ENHANCED BEYOND
    BASIC BOARDING OFFICER QUALIFICATIONS. MEMBERS
ACHIEVING THIS HIGHER STANDARD OF PROFESSIONAL
COMPETENCE CAN EXPECT ASSIGNMENTS TO POSITIONS
DESIGNATED AS REQUIRING LE QUALIFICATIONS. THESE LE
PROFESSIONALS WILL BE UNIT LE EXPERTS, COORDINATE
UNIT LEVEL LE TRAINING AND ASSIST COMMANDING OFFICERS
IN MAINTAINING UNIT LEVEL LE READINESS. THEY WILL
NOT REPLACE EXISTING BOARDING OFFICERS OR BOARDING
TEAM MEMBERS. ALTHOUGH AN OPTION, I HAVE DECIDED NOT
TO CREATE A DEDICATED LE RATING AT THIS TIME. AN LE
RATING COULD NEGATIVELY IMPACT LE PROFESSIONALS
RATHER THAN PROVIDE NEEDED IMPROVEMENTS, IT WOULD BE
EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO IMPLEMENT AT MANY SMALL UNITS
WITH LE RESPONSIBILITIES WHERE LE COMPETENCIES ARE
CRITICAL, IT WOULD REQUIRE RESOURCES CURRENTLY NOT
AVAILABLE AND COULD HAVE OTHER NEGATIVE UNINTENDED
    CONSEQUENCES.

Yes that was posted on Military.com. I was hoping for a LE specific rating but that is not going to happen.

They are however coming out with an intelligence rating that I am going to apply for.
