Email I got today had the following picture and story of USAF Chief Master Sgt (E-9) John Gebherdt:

Gebhert is holding a girl whose family was killed by Iraqi insurgents. The girl was shot in the back of the head and left for dead, but survived. Apparently, the girl would cry at night, and Gebhert was the only person who could calm the girl so that she could get some sleep.
