Advice?

Hi, this is my first post and I'm not sure where to place it so i've written it under another subject heading as well. I am 20, almost 21, and I have a decision to make and I was hoping to gather information from people who have more experience than I do. Here it is, I have the opportunity to work for the the Florida Department of Correction at the Charrlotte Institution, I am also considering going into the Air Force at the moment. My overall goal would be to acquire experience to become a police officer. Here are the central dilemas I am facing. While the military is good experience, the Air Force Security Forces, from what I have been hearing, are not really preforming many LE duties anymore (or maybe I'm wrong? if so, I would love to hear different as I am more than somewhat interested in this.) so more than likely I would look into trying to get a mechanical or another general job. Also, I have heard that some agencies like for you to start of in corrections anyways and then move up to the road, however, I'm not 100% on this. At the moment I don't know if I would want to stay in correctoins but am very much considering the idea that I could very well make a career out of it, as many other respectable individuals have done. Although, I feel that if I choose one over the other I think that I will feel that I missed out on a big opportunity. I know that I have to make a decision on my own, I am just hoping that people could share their imput so that I will be able to make a better informed decision than i could have made before. Any and all advice is welcomed, and will be greatly appreciated.
