alright you national guard members, have some questions for you

    aight here's the deal:

ever since i was knee high to a grasshopper i've always wanted to get into law enforcement.

a fire lit was under my *** and now i'm seriously starting to think about a certain college with a good law enforcement program.

also thought of joining the national guard (it'd help with costs for college and the military was one other thing i've always wanted to do too).

what would be the best job to get into to help further a career within LE. i know absolutely barely anything about the national guard since it was something i never realy studied or read up on.

    all help is appreciated. ty.

    Know this.

The National Guard is run by your state with the Governor as the Commander in Chief.

The Reserves are run by the regular military with the president as the Commander in Chief.

Otherwise they are very similar. I was in the Air Guard for 3 years and it was great. I was also on active duty for 4 years.

The National Guard/Reserves aren't part time anymore. You will get mobolized if you go through with it...and it might happen just as your are deep in a hiring process with a Dep't. You'd have to accept that.

this is something that some people would disagree with, but if you are going through the reserves for college to help you get a LE degree, do not go infantry, do not go MP, do not go armor, get something you can 'use' once you get the LE job. There are many jobs in the USA that will help you get a good job when you get out, while those jobs are 'fun' they will not help you do this. Admin, Mechanical, etc those types of jobs will at least teach you something you can use in a LE career.
