States' that will allow Military Police experience to qualify in lieu of attending a POST academy.
The below states listed will accept Military Police training to qualify for a shortened, equivalency of training program instead of attending a regular police academy to become certified in the respective state. The streamlined programs are usually 2-3 weeks in duration and cover law and high liability areas.
*** Other conditions in the transfer may include years of MP service and civilian education. It should be also noted that some departments within these states do not recognize Military Police equivalency when it comes to hiring these newly certified officers. In this circumstance, when hired, the new officer may still be required to attend a state approved basic police training program. Check the requirements of the department in which you are seeking employment. ***
