Great Job!!!
You're on your way in and I am on my way out...
I will leave the Marine Corps in 2 weeks after serving 10 great years and am headed to the police academy in January..
Here are a few words of advice to make your time in the Corps great..
First..in boot camp, keep your mouth shut and ears open..do everything at full speed, oh and keep a journal or write your parents every couple days with all the crazy stuff that happens..I am still laughing when my dad breaks out those old letters..haha
Even if a job sounds nasty..volunteer anyways..it will benefit you in the long run..
Even if it takes working nights and weekends, get your education while you are in..you can easily get your AA degree in your first 4 years..Marine Corps pays 100% so use it...
And most important...HAVE FUN!!!! You will meet and work with some of the best people in the world!!
Have a great time and Good luck

Good Luck to you!
espirit,
When you say there is not much future in ground pounding, do you mean there isn't much future in weapons training, tactics, demo courses, cqb, etc. I commend you on your decision to enlist but having served or been attached to several grunt units, I have seen some of the most "squared away" Marines I have ever worked with from these units.
Just being in the military ( even the USAF) helps square most people away.
Go in , learn, train, mature and if you get out, you should make an excellent candidate to be an officer somewhere.

Congratulations man, that is great news to hear!! I was wondering how the whole process was going for you. the only word of adivce i'll give you that no one told me......RUN!! run as much as you can, as often as you can!! i dont mean jog to the local corner, i mean get used to running at least 2-3 miles daily at a fairly good pace. also go get yourself a backpack and load it up with some weights (around 50 lbs) and start hiking with it on, work on your stamina. trust me these will come in handy in boot and after. good luck again !! by the way, once in, write to some of us or a friend that has e-mail so that we can see how you're doing!
I do what I can do when I can do it.
Thanks everyone. i appriciate all the support. and lfpd as soon as i get back after boot im jumping right on the computer, and for those couple of days i wiill be post whoring. lol. thanks again everyone
