He grew up in St. Louis, MO and attended the US Air Force Academy. After graduation, he was sent to Vietnam and flew an Attack Aircraft. He was killed in action over SW Asia in 1967. He was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal by the US Air Force for his service in Vietnam. He was not buried properly until 1998.

Capt. Michael J. Blassie the reason he wasnt properly buried until then was because he was in the tomb of the unknown soldier.
