be aware that for a while after you join all you will be doing is gate/guard duty. Its not all LE.

With that said, Id say that they are all pretty much the same, but I would give the nod for most LE work to the USCG(although there is no LE specific rate). Id also say the the Army/USMC MP's would get deployed more than the other services(alot of them are over in Iraq)

I plan to join the USAF Security Forces after Im done with college because Ive heard that they treat there people the best, and have best bases/food from what ive heard.

Also know that being a MP won't hold alot of ground above other mos's at most departments, what they will care about is how honorable(sp) you served. But one advantage about being a MP/SF is that you can get selected to attend schools for stuff like traffic accident investigation, ect.... And I think all of the branches have some sort of SWAT unit that you can try to join(USMC calls it the SRT, USAF calls it EST), that specialized training will look great.

I am biased ( USAF Security Police 1978-82) but I would vote for the USAF.

the marine mp dept. is the best by far!!!!!!!! ;)
The "spirit" of a unit. This spirit is commonly reflected by all members. It implies devotion and loyalty to the Marine Corps, with deep regard for history, traditions and honor.

Yep I'm pretty partial to USAF SF as well, being that I'm in the AF. However a warning. For some reason a LOT of discipline problems on a base tend to come from the Security Forces squadron. If you end up being a SF cop don't do anything stupid with your buddies. But I'm sure mcsap was the perfect troop ;)

Be a Marine, in 4yrs if you dont like it, transfer out to Any other Branch.

What I have looked at was the tough PT and extreme stress games they play with you in bootcamp... I think if I could take 3 months of that then 4yrs out working gates, the road, Guarding, then Probably spend time in Iraq... I will be ready for the streets of either Lacey or Tacoma, whomever hires me on [but preferably State Patrol].

I'm partial myself to the USAF (88-92). Not sure if they still do it, but when going to tech school, the marines and navy mp's went to our school at Lackland AFB. Army does their own thing. I've heard things about the Army too, but I'm not sure if any of it was true. One thing, and this was a while back, that the Army MP's couldn't carry loaded weapons. Of course we carried ours loaded with a round in the chamber. Back then to, the Army was carrying the old 45's. Not sure what they are carrying today. i remember working as an armorer and having some MP's turn their weapons in for overnight storage, that if you turned the weapon to the right or left, that it sounded like parts sliding all around. Not sure what was up with that. Back when I was in it was Security Police. You were either a LE Specialist or a Security Specialist. Security worked the flight line and LE did the rest. But the places i was stationed at, you shared the duties and there was no difference. Shortly after I got out, they changed it to the Security Forces, which is basically the way we worked then. A few years ago I saw some pictures on the internet of some units and they have some awesome equipment now. 4 Wheelers, bike units and etc. I would of loved to have all that when I was in.

By far the AF treats their own the best of all the Armed Forces.

Nowadays... Military Police from the Army and the Marine Corps go to Ft. Leonardwood MO. I do not know about the AF, I think they may still be at Lackland TX. The Navy I believe either goes to MO or has their own in the South Pacific U.S. [ Like around Nevada ]
