    About DEP

I was wondering what exactly happens while your in DEP and also how long are you able to be in it before you must go off to basic. I will be graduating DEC. 2005 and was wondering if sometime this fall if I should start talking to a recruiter. I've been reading good things about DEP on some military forums I look at, but never have seen exactly all what it is that I would do while I'm in the delayed entry program. Would it be beneficial for me to enter that program, before heading off. Would it allow me to start learning and have first hand knowledge of the Army and how it operates. I have been researching and finding as much info as I can about the Army and hopefully the MOS that I get which is MP. Also, is this fall the best time to start talking to a recruiter for when I graduate college the following Dec.

I think the maximum limit for DEP is one year. Dunno bout the other questions.

I enlisted in DEP in May and went active in October. The DEP time got me pay raises faster, that was it. Instead of getting pay raise at one year of service, I got it 5 months sooner. Max time in DEP was a year. While in DEP, I did NOTHING at all military related. I ONLY had to contact my recruiter if for some reason I became ineligible to go in. Physical injury, criminal arrest etc.

Yes im currently in the DEP for USMC. Its great actually we have meeting and go PT or shoot, play sports, its actually fun. They got you back too if anything happens, for example my old employer is not paying me my money because me and their daughter broke up so hes trying to get my money back and hes going to go up there because they refuse to talk to me and hang up when i call. Well the DEP teaches you waht to prepare for in Recruit Training.
