Is it possible to go to basic the summer before grad. and then AIT after grad.

I was curious to know if this was possible. I will be graduating December 2005. Is it possible for me to complete BMT for the Army the summer going into my last semester and then do AIT after my graduation. I'm probably sure many of you are thinking, "why can't I just do them right after another after graduation." That was what I was planning on doing it's just that I was thinking that if I don't get an internship that last summer of college that I could just get started with my path into the Army. Just something I was thinking about.

When I was in and that was 150 years ago, we did our training as OSUT (One Station Unit Training) 13 weeks, 8 basic and 5 AIT. They were consecutive and there was no way of getting held back unless you were recycled and you don't really want that...
    Ask your recruiter..

I did OSUT, but we had a few in basic that split it up that way. This was about 15 years ago, though. I beleive that they still do it, as already mentioned.

In 86, I had a high school ROTC pouge go through basic with me. He was to finish his AIT after he graduated. Perhaps you should talk to your recruiter. I hope this helps.

I think you have received your answer, but to make sure, active duty cannot break up their BT and AIT, reservist and national guard can.

You used to be able to break it up for active enlisted, but a recruiter told me that they only do it for reserve now.
