Auto Window Tint Law in Illinois

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the window tint laws in illinois? I have read a few online and I just want to verify with an officer that actually knows.

I just want to point out that I do want to getall my windows tinted mainly because i have a leather interior and summers coming and it can get rather hot. This is a major inconvenience and i do drive my neice and nephews around alot to school and back and what not.

Anyways, i heard that I can tint my windows 35% if I want to tint all of them but it doesnt really block that much light. and if i go lower that 35% i cant have any tint in the front, only on the back windshield and rear windows.

Is this true and are you guys really strict on this? I've seen a little more than a few cars that have tints all the way around and i know for a fact that it's less than 35% all the way around.

    Thanks in advance (^_^)

Yes. Everyone knows about those blistering 'Illinois Summers...'

It may be inconvenient, but that doesn't compare to safety. You have to be able to SEE to drive safely, and tinting the windows makes it harder to see out, period. Plenty of people break that law, and plenty of people get tickets for it.

I would recommend one of those removable windshield screens. That will do wonders to keep the inside cool for your niece and nephew, and doesn't break the law to do so.
