    Joining the Law Enforcement? Denied!

    Hello,

I would like to join the ADA County Sheriff or Police but I am not sure if I will qualify. I am 43 years old, but in very good shape. Do not drink, smoke, never used drugs, do a lot sport. My concern is: I am an American Citizen by birth but was raised in Germany, so that I have an Accent. I also do not know all the short or special words using by the Law Enforcement.
Do you have any words of advice, if I could qualify and be able to fulfill the job?

    Thank you

I'm not a cop so take it for what it's worth.
Some depts have age requirements so you'll have to check with the dept you want to apply to. Check out their website or give them a call to make sure.

And your accent shouldn't be a problem as long as people can understand you.
The wording that you'll need to know will be taught to you in the academy.

    Good luck

    Perhaps I was misunderstood.

I meant we have a German here on RP.

I'm not from Iraq, but I do happen to be here of the behalf of the U.S. military. :D

I'm 38 myself and I would love to know what the ENTRY level physical tests consist of in the Atlanta area since I am about to fill out my application for entry into Atlanta PD.. If anyone has any idea of what I can expect at 38...thank you for any positive feedback...

I applied for a Job as an Deputy and seem that they have something either about people with an accent or people over a certain age:

Thank you for submitting your application for the position of Deputy- Patrol Officer (2009010) with the Ada County Sheriff's Office. Your application was considered along with those of many other candidates. This is to inform you that you were not chosen as a final candidate.

We appreciate your interest in our department and wish you well in your future endeavors.

Nice. Because they still got the open jobs as an Deputy.
