Getting elder driver licensed taken away

My father is 76 and is a driving menace. My mother made a comment last night stating she will no longer ride with him if they go further than around the corner. He was a truck driver for many years and one of the original NASCAR drivers at the "Peach Bowl" in Atl. He has a lead foot and I can not begin to guess how many accidents or speeding tickets he's had in his lifetime.

My father is almost blind in one eye and the vision in the other is almost as bad. He has two hearing aids and recently has had a knee replacement. He had a colostomy about 15 yrs ago and his general health is not great. He seems to think his reflexes are the same as when he was 40. He does have somewhat good reflexes however it is not what he believes them to be. He is becoming more fragile an is not the tough truck driver of 20 yrs ago!

Other family members including my mother constantly state they refuse to ride with him again! I have spoken with other family members but no one will confront him. I spoke with him regarding his driving and his response was basically mind your own business.

Christmas night he insisted driving in very poor conditions. We liive at the botton of a hill and . When I called him to tell him to come back to the house he stated, "I've driven an 18 wheler in worse conditions" as he slid all the way uphill tires spinning! He has the opinion that everyone else is an idiot and should get off the roads and out of his way. He believes that the red arrow in the turn lane doesn't mean "stop" it is just a suggestion. He thinks if the other light is green it is ok to turn.

When on the interstate he is a habitiual speeder and weaves in out of traffic. Someone is going to be killed and probably not him.

What can we do to take clip his wings! My mother is a great driver and very safe. She has only had one accident in over 50 yrs., no speeding, etc. We can't just take the keys because she is very capable of driving however he is such a pain in the butt he may try to drive even without a liscense.

What can be done in the state of GA to force him off the road? I believe it is only a matter of time before something bad happens!
