Oh, and we had one of these.... I wonder how many people know what it is?



VP is the initials of the police officer than carried it before me. He was killed by a shotgun blast to the stomach entering a house on a DV call just before I was hired. It was reissued to me.

Yeah, we called them saps... The big end is full of powdered lead and it's flexible. They made them illegal for us to carry about 4 years after I came on. In fact, they still call the narrow pocket on our uniform leg "sap pockets".
