Wow what a great post Joey! I usually don't go into other areas of the forum except Background Check section but this proves I should explore the forums more. Thanks so much for this post, its def worth more than anything I can explain. I get advice once in awhile from the senior officers but for the most part they wait until we respond to a hot call and then they say good job kid and then they tell you some advice. Thanks again Joey!

Thanks Joey.
I agree with maz that a lot of the rookies probably missed this because we didn't look in the right place. His link in the Background Check section should help.

Thank You
I haven't even started the process of getting hired, but I made sure to print out this list and read it a few times. Not only do I know it will help on the job, but it also helped me to decide whether or not I was going to become a police officer. Thanks again Joey...

Sir,
This post is by all recounts, the best I have read in a long time. You are definitely a legend among Hero's.
I still sit in the front row at briefings. Traditionally the new/newer sworn personnel sit in the front rows. At the end of my career, I will still be in the front row because no matter how many years we do this job, something new always comes up.:D

Thank you! And I too am like you. A day does not go by I don't learn something new on this job.

+1 well said. I personally sit in the second row though because we have many P-1's at my division and the front row fills up quick :D
However I laugh at some other new P-2's like myself (new P-2 i.e LAPD speak for Ofcr who recently finished 1 yr probationary status) who can't wait to sit as far away from the front row as they can....ya know the "I got this down" type.
