    PSA and my own ramblings Occupy <name the moron convention here> and this Saturday.

    Not sure how significant this is .... (and if others with real information instead of conjecture thinks this should be moved to a restricted area, feel free);

    Everyone has seen the V for Vendetta masks

    These are called Guy Fawkes masks and have come to represent some crazy anarchist movements.

    Guy Fawkes Night is an annual event celebrating an attempt to destroy parliament in Great Britain in 1605. Guy Fawkes night is generally observed on November 5 (see Gunpowder Plot or Guy Fawkes.

    November 5 is this Saturday. Friday at midnight would be the corresponding "plot."

    Since Guy Fawkes night is not celebrated in the U.S. and is obscure holiday for most U.S. citizens and there is an undercurrent of Guy Fawkes related anarchism with this current wave of "Occupy" stuff, it would not surprise me if a small segment of these anarchist types are planning a "wilding" type of agitation or some other anarchist type action on a significant date that is relatively unknown to U.S. LEO's.

    If you are working these areas (or even just this weekend in any populated area), you might want to be a little extra vigilant if these morons decide a "5 November" type of incident would be special because of Guy Fawkes connection on Friday/Saturday. I have no special intelligence or anything, just thought the historical significance of November 5 should be passed along to U.S. LEO's as they head into this weekend.

    It's not a violent holiday in U.K. or other countries that celebrate it with bonfires and fall festival type stuff but since it's virtually unknown in the U.S., anarchists could make up a reason to celebrate it their way.

    Just a heads up if you start seeing lots more of these masks on malcontents carrying gunpowder barrels or something this weekend.

    Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
    The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
    I know of no reason
    Why the Gunpowder Treason
    Should ever be forgot.
    Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
    To blow up the King and Parli'ment.
    Three-score barrels of powder below
    To prove old England's overthrow;
    By God's providence he was catch'd (or by God's mercy*)
    With a dark lantern and burning match.
    Holla boys, Holla boys, let the bells ring.
    Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
    And what should we do with him? Burn him!
    Be safe.

    One hopes there is a special place in Hell for the evil people who make, trade, and possess child pornography. Until they get there, we are committed to putting them in jail. -- David Procopio, Massachusetts State Police
