[quote=neutral1;1146050]Im applying to be a class II (Part timer but with full policing powers if im correct ) to as many shore towns as possible in New Jersey.
Shouldn't you know exactly what you are applying for? Wouldn't one research the entire program and process? Wouldn't one be able to answer basic questions about the position, so that if asked when given an application they sound like they know what they are getting into?
Also, is there a website or an easier way to find online applications? Ive only come across 1
Stop think and listen to waht you are saying. Your words are interpreted to be saying this:
Hey folks, I really want to have a local shore town who typically hire extra class II officers during the tourist season (may to August), sponser me, with no class I experience (ticket writers, basic unarmed patrol with arrets powers) to attend a police academy, but I only found one online. Can you cops in Texas, California, Michigan, etc... tell me where I can find agencies in NJ who sponser a person with no experience to attend a NJ certified police academy part time over then next nine months in hopes they pass so we can hire them part time and then field train me, instead of hiring one of the hundreds of laid off cops in the state who are allowed to work part time and still collect unemployment or may be willing to work part time in hopes of full time work?
I will tell you ONE more time....contact your county police academy and do some question asking there. Since they are staffed by cops from various agencies in the county, they know who does what, when, and what your chances are. Talk to teh guys who run the class you want to get into who come from agencies you want to work for. Additionally, I gave you a resource where there are hundreds of folks who will share the same story (as an applicant) that I am telling you. You either missed it or dismissed it.
As I told you before......you have bad timing. NJ laid off cops in Trenton, Camden and Newark. Three hundred plus guys who have been certified, trained and have years of experience are out there looking for work, even part time work. I know several. No town in NJ, with the frozen state budget (aka no Troop class this year or 2012) is going to risk/waste time and money sponsering a person with no experience for part time work when hundreds who have done the job are ready and waiting. Additionally, with shore towns, class II officers are traditionally a Memorial to Labor Day position. For a guy who is old fashioned and does calls and visits, some basic field work in the area would give you this information.
Look at becoming a Class I and explore alternate route.
