New FEMA/NOAA police?

Below you can clearly see from his title on his shirt the Head of the new Police Nags as he goes door to door nagging people to leave without any real authority to make them. Apparently their main weapon is a pamphlett describing how angry they will be when they come to rescue you after you didn't evacuate.

Where do you get from that photo alone, that he was trying to "make" anyone do anything?

Please explain why I should have to risk my safety or my life and why the local government should spend bucket loads of money rescuing people who were warned in plenty of time to evacuate, but refused to go.

There are always going to be pig-headed people who refuse to listen to common sense. As far as I'm concerned, anyone that refuses to evacuate can stay... but they are totally on their own. I don't even want to help recover their bodies. Let Sanitation pick 'em up.

It was a play on his agency, "Nags Head" and if you look at it just wrong you can get "Police Nags - Head" -> Head of the Police Nags

I implied that he lacked the authority to take them into custody and force them to a different place so they go door to door (especially houses that still have cars) and tell them to leave (I think they have a Disaster Pamphlett). In the end people ignore that advice and stay and die or complain a la Katrina. I'd like to see a school bus following the officers and loading the stragglers and moving them to a shelter. There should be a time where the evac changes from voluntary compliance to mandatory "if we see you, you are going on the bus." I also think they should bill stupid people for their own rescue if they ignored the order and had the means to get out. We do that for people that cross road closed sign for flash flooding.

Nope. I'd be a lot angrier knowing it was this twit that was going to call right in the middle of the worst conditions. The police will complain that they can rot there but in the end we all know they will strap it on and go out to see what they can do for this idiot that put themselves and everyone else in a bad spot.
