Are fugitive recovery agents (bounty hunters) allowed to carry firearms? I was just wondering cause I came across a picture of a bounty hunter out of Pennsylvania with a gun on his hip a badge, and a shirt that said agent on across the back (the picture appeared to be taken in public while he was "recovering a fugitive"). In Texas nobody except for commissioned police officers ,including bounty hunters shall wear anything at all that would lead a person to believe they are a police officer.

To my knowledge there is no certification for bounty hunters in PA. It is nothing more than a private citizen tracking down a fugitive.
Member mcsap would know more than me though. I never had any dealings with anyone who claimed to be one.

Greg is right on.
PA has no formal or recognized bounty hunters. Anyone can set up shop in their garage and be the next " dog". The last one I dealt with who was out looking for someone got arrested for DUI by us.
