I roll up on a motorist assist that a Trooper has already arrived at.
I get out to help and find the Trooper with his four way lug wrench in
hand breaking loose the lug nuts.
Well, when we are done and the motorist is on his way, it dawns on me
just who the Trooper is. Its the Lt COLONEL of the Kansas Highway Patrol.
(the #2 Trooper in the State of Kansas)
Now I know we got great Troopers in Kansas, and I am sure you have seen a Trooper stop and change a tire. But if those people only knew who just helped change their tire at 10PM at night..

All I can say is WOW!
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL

That's great stuff right there! I wish more people would get on chatboards/forums/papers and say when higher management does great stuff like that. It falls back into the whole "never ask your guys to do something you wouldn't be willing to do yourself."

I didn't know a Trooper would help you change a tire....that in itself is pretty great!

OSP used to do that, but I haven't seen a trooper doing it in years. On the other hand, with today's tires flats aren't as common as they used to be either.
I did it for an elderly couple once, but it's not our policy. It was just a slow night and they were nice people.Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

AZ DPS does it, but not very often in the Phoenix metro area. Those guys are hella busy taking accident reports.
Several years back, they added a Roadside Motorist Assistant classification where civilians drive vehicles specially designated with "Motorist Assistant" and help out with broken down vehicles. I don't know how prevalent they are statewide, though.
And to the OP - I agree, it's nice to see a Jefe jumping in and helping out. That's awesome. We've got good peeps like that here in our forum, too.
