    Great Ride-Along

As an intern with a local pd I get credit for doing a few ride-alongs a week. Yesterday I had a pretty crazy one and thought I'd share.
We started the day at court with a suppression hearing on an armed burglary case. Next, we went to a call about a hit and run from the night before on which the victim was a Lt. with the department. A witness had gotten the plate so we were able to locate the suspects house and go pay a visit. The look on this guys face when we showed up was absolutely priceless. It went something like "Sir, you left so quickly the victim didn't even get a chance to show you his badge...". So then the guy says that he has a lawyer and would like if we could come back monday to talk about it (I had to laugh). Later, we caught a bunch of kids stealing BB guns, wrote some tickets, investigated a burglary, and for the grand finale, show up to an accident where the at-fault driver (who smells like booze) decides to step on the gas and drive right into the patrol car.
I'm always hearing people say law enforcement "isn't not like Cops, you know"; well yesterday was. Days like that make up for the slow days.
Moral of the story... you guys have the coolest job. I hope I can join you one day.
