The first story I read on this said 25 to 30 bodies of children had been found. Now they're saying they haven't yet and then it came out the tip was from a psychic.

Report: Psychic says dozens of bodies buried in East Texas

LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas — Law enforcement descended on a rural Texas farmhouse Tuesday after receiving an anonymous tip that multiple dismembered bodies were buried there, and a sheriff's spokesman said officials were seeking a search warrant for the property.
Spokesman Rex Evans of the Liberty County Sheriff's Department says the office received an anonymous report Tuesday that there were bodies in the home, at the intersection of County Roads 2049 and 2048 between Hardin and Daisetta. KHOU reported that a tipster said 25 to 30 bodies were buried there.
But, in a press conference, Liberty County officials said they are awaiting a search warrant and have found no evidence of any bodies, according to KBMT-TV.
A state law enforcement source said deputies had been directed to the site by a psychic, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The area is largely rural with a mix of fields and small wooded areas, located about 70 miles northeast of Houston. Law enforcement officials were staged along County Road 2048 near a house that was surrounded by trees.
A neighbor told the Houston Chronicle that authorities were gathering at the home of Joe Bankson. Bankson, reached by the Chronicle in Dallas, told a reporter he didn't know why authorities might be at his home, where he and his wife have lived for three years.
He said he and his wife are long-haul truck drivers and are en route to Georgia.
"I haven't killed anybody," he told the Chronicle. "And I have a lot of friends, but I haven't helped anybody bury any bodies."
About 15 Sheriff's Office vehicles and at least one cadaver dog are on the scene, KHOU reported.
The Cleveland Advocate reported that authorities were seeking a search warrant in order to search the home, where some of the individuals involved have been "uncooperative," according to Evans.
An FBI official says an evidence response team has been put on standby in case its needed, according to NBC News. A woman who answered the phone at the Beaumont FBI office referred all questions to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, which could not be immediately reached by msnbc.com for comment.

There has to be more to this to mobilize that many personnel and begin an affidavit for a search warrant.

How close does a cadaver dog have to get before it detects a body? I know it would probably vary from dog to dog, but in a general distance.

I've had several calls from psychics over the years when I was working homicide, none ever gave any information that turned out to be even close to correct.

I knew there had to more to it. They apparently observed what hit on a swab as human blood on a door and smelled a rotting odor from inside.

Better to err on the side of caution than to walk away and find out later there were buried remains.

With that said, friggen psychics drive me nutz. Even worse are the ones who blindly fall for their theatrics.

One in particular (who had a very popular tv show) caused me all sort of headaches when I was in homicide, but that's a long story better told on the dark side.

When Compuserve was still around, I was on a police forum there. Another pop psychic came on there and was bragging about all the homicides she'd helped the police solve. (On that forum we used our real names, but cops had to be verified) I asked her to cite one giving me the department and the name of the victim or investigator. She first said all her work was confidential and she couldn't disclose. I called BS on her and she went away. I've heard her make all those claims on TV, but she never gives specifics. Can't you imagine the front page headlines "PSYCHIC SOLVES CASE!" if one ever did come through?

Exactly. If they are psychic, why not see it BEFORE it happens. There's a lot less evidence necessary to prove how many people you saved. It would be a great excuse for traffic violations too. "I went through that red light because I needed to get the other driver to slam on his breaks. If I didn't do that, my psychic sense told me he was going to collide with another car a mile down the road. I averted a cosmic alignment that would have resulted in his death."

I still want to see the PC affidavit for the warrant to search for unknown number of body parts. Particularly I want to see if affiant has "training and experience" with psychics :(.
