The cartels became established back when there was basically one cartel, led by Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo and they mules drugs fornthe Colombians. All cartelsmtrace their lineage to him. What led to the present day cartels was Gallardo's ordered kidnapping, torturing and killing of DEA Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, in 1985.

That set off a firestorm which led Gallardo to dividing up his territory ton the Arellano-Felix brothers, Carrillo-Fuentes family, Miguel Caro-Quintero, Juan Garcia-Abrego and Joaquín "Chapo" Guzman-Loera; all of whom worked for Gallardo.

Now, in 1984 the U.S. Had a little thing happen called amnesty. All illegal aliens whonmet a certain criteria were granted amnesty for their past transgressions. We won't even touch on the colossal amount of fraud which was perpetrated during this. Thus, from the onset these newly independent cartels, who initially continued working together, had people legally in place in the U.S..

Fast forward a couple of decades and towns are now over ridden with illegal immigrants, most, but not all, from Mexico. Many of these poor undocumented aliens searching for a better life and their piece of an American dream (spouting left wing propaganda) in fact, work for the cartels. You can look at Phoenix, the number 2 kidnapping capital of the world as proof of that. Which BIG is more than sure lead to Arizona's "racist" (rolls eyes here) anti-immigration law.

Forget the fact that Arizona's law practically mirrored U.S.law, but that's for another thread.

In nutshell, where illegals go, DTO's (Drug Trafficking Organizations) are sure to follow.

    BIG's rant is over.

Hey. good rant. All I can say is OMG. It's gone this far and this established .... what do ya do? I had no idea it was that bad, folks like me only know what we read and hear, guess that is one reason I hang out here. thanks.

That's the problem. So much of the public's view of the world is shaped based on the the news. There is just so much more out there than that. The news is nothing more than an entertainment business.

My dad is bad for this. He believes everything he sees/hears on the news and in newspapers. I try to make him see the light but he is stubborn, much like his son.

A few weeks ago, BLM did a land cleanup to get rid of the tons of garbage left behind by smugglers and illegal immigrants.

Before they did that though, it required a reconnaissance in force operation by SWAT teams to get elements of the cartels out of their little sniper/spotter holes in the hills of the area. While the cleanup operation was underway, they also required security to safeguard the workers.

Vekol valley used to be used by astronomy clubs because of the dark skies. Not anymore. In the last 3-4 years, the number of armed encounters went way up and it became too dangerous. It's not used anymore.
