No title works for how I feel about parents like this -

WATERLOO, Iowa --- A Waterloo woman has been arrested in connection with injuries her 11-year-old son suffered.

Police arrested Teonni Lasha Jones, 34, of 1225 Logan Ave., on March 28 on two counts of felony endangerment. She has since been released on bond.

The child's father, Antiwan Emanual Curry, 41, was arrested March 21 after a March 7 scuffle that left the boy with a fractured right eye bone.

The injuries were discovered when the child went to school March 21, and during the investigation police found a bite mark, bruising and open wounds on the child.

Officers said the boy was being disciplined by Jones' husband on March 17, and he attempted to flee the house.

Jones allegedly tackled the boy, bit his back and held him down until his father and another man carried him back inside. After that, Curry whipped him with a DVD cord, court records state.

During an interview with police, Jones allegedly said she didn't seek medical attention for the boy after the March 17 incident because he deserved a "whooping," and his injuries would be taken care of at school, records state.

This one was so bad, the mother got the death penalty here in liberal Oregon. She tortured her daughter to death.

It just sickens me...if you go to our Humane Society to buy a dog/cat or whatever they check their records to see if you have anything on their records such as abuse charges, returning animals, etc. AND they do a drive by to make sure the dog is not chained up but in a fenced in yard. But, you can have kid after kid after kid and abuse and neglect them and unless a school official or someone sees it ....IT goes on and on. The child gets removed from the home sooooooooooo they give birth to another and the whole process starts again.

I don't have the answer, except maybe DHS could copy/paste the policies and procedures from the humane society.

The first charge of child abuse was brought by the NYC ASPCA in the 1880's.

Trust me, it's not all DHS's fault. Judges routinely return kids to abusive situations. "Keeping the family together" has been the goal of juvenile courts for decades. DHS gets the heat because they don't dare say it was the judges' fault.

What is even more sickening is that crimes like this are most likely to always be present in every culture. I think that once a mother or father treats their child like this, they should have to get a hysterectomy/vasectomy, even though they don't always take, to help insure that these kind of people do not have anymore kids. I think if the consequences for these crimes were more serious, it may help to lessen the amount of child abuse cases. But what do I know, I'm still a kid myself.
