This is a first for me...

So I arrested this guy for petit theft this morning, he refused to come up with the just over $100 that he owed the taxi driver. A simple, Misdemeanor 1 charge, maybe $500 bond. While on my way to the jail, he begins to get agitated, so I try to calm him down by gabbing with him inanely. Didn't work, and he tells me he's going to kick my window out! I tell him I'd add another charge, so he leans back and just kicks away at my drivers side back door window!! Before I can stop to get out and stop him, I hear the sound of breaking glass. So, into the sally port I go calling for the CO's to come out and get this guy! Now he's got a Felony 3rd as a new charge!

Should be fixed by tonight when I go on shift!! My garage is GREAT!!

Looks like this guy watched one too many episodes of COPS. Copycat kicker.

You are a nice guy, I figure he was trying to escape and
    should have met Mr Taser.......
You should have slapped him with felony attempt to escape from
    custody.
Let him get on the stand and testify, that he was just being an
idiot when he broke the window....
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL

Yes, he caused more than $1,000 damage. That amount of criminal mischief is a felony down here.

When he broke it out I was about 30 seconds from the sally port, so I just accelerated and got there right away. Called for a nice welcome team of CO's and they arrived shortly to "Welcome" him to our jail! Within 5 minutes he was in the chair with a spit mask on his head! LOL

They should build those belt electronic stun devices into the seatbelts. When you belt him in, you make sure the control device is in the proper location and any rowdiness is met accordingly.

really? You don't need three independant assessments of damage followed by risk management review of actions to determine how much of it was your fault?

Do the jail staff buy you lunch when you bring them the evenings entertainment? I hope they dragged him through the hole he created. Sort of poetice justice.

Maybe you should stop by the jail tonight and drop off the bill for that guy .

That happened in NE on Tuesday. The guy got away. Poor cop, sounds seriously embarrassing. The radio said at the end. Guy escaped cop car not considered armed or dangerous. I don't know If you can escape aren't you at least dangerous.

I don't think this guy was trying to get away, just trying to be a tool. He told me he was going to break it and then he did. He was still on his back in the backseat when I got to the jail, still kicking the window frame!! Would've been hard to articulate an escape with those facts.

As for the jail personnel, they all (both the off-going AND on-coming shifts) got a couple great laughs looking at my car in the sally port!! The guys that brought him in weren't too pleased about the use of force report they had to do tho.

We dont get to go to the jail anymore because we have a central booking but I can remember calling ahead for the welcoming party when we had a wild child.

The CO's LOVED coming out to our cars , EXTRACTING Mr. Tough guy and " escorting " him inside with perhaps his feet touching the ground

They were then instructed to " become one with the bars " on the cell door while they were searched. anything but FULL compliance resulted in a LARGE CO pressing them up against the bars with great force.

The show was great and my admission ticket was free !
