A piece of what?
Job Security...
Ecclesiastes 8:11...
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
I assume the "piece" was a gun. Go with a lawyer, you'll need one.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

You should get an attorney. What will happen to you is the following;
You will arrive at court and eventually your name will be called. Go up and stand at the podium with or without your attorney. If you do not have an attorney present the Judge will ask if you have an attorney or do you intend on getting your own attorney. If not he will ask you if you want to apply for a court appointed attorney (based on income). You will answer him. He will put off the court appearance and give you time to get or apply for an attorney. Some states vary, but he either will read the charges and ask how you plea to the charges or automatically enter a plea of not guilty pending your new lawyers appearance. The Judge will then give you a date to return with an attorney. BE THERE
Piece is a thing to smoke out of.. my bad.

My post was weighed on the "piece" being a gun. I don't know how this charge is handled in your state. You may want to speak to an attorney if you plan on getting a career where you have that question on your application "have you been convicted of a crime".
Are you going to give up the weed or is this just a minor speedbump in your life ?

So... Honestly... I'm freaking out... I don't want to go to prison.. everyone is telling me this is gonna happen, I have a couple friends who've been busted for possession saying I'll get fined and put on court supervision.. But, should I go and talk to the judge or something.. What do I do.
Everything posted here looks correct. You should talk to a lawyer, show up to court and enter guilty or not guilty... simple. You're also very unlikely to receive jail time for this, but you can always go look up the statute in your State and check what the possible outcomes are.
Im sure that there is more to this that the judge is going to take into consideration as well.
First offense - That looks (better) for you. Were you cooperative with the arresting officer(s)? What brought you to their attention in the first place? I mean, if you were fresh off of committing another crime and they found weed and a pipe when searching you, then the possession charge would be the least of my worries. As suggested here, get a lawyer and STAY on the straight and narrow. Hopefully this wont have to be a lesson you repeat.
