Hopefully i'm posting this in the correct place (CO/ACO)

I'm just exploring different avenues for my future. I'm curious if anyone here has general information about becoming an ACO (animal control officer)? I would just have no idea where to start for something like that. I was also thinking of a CO as well, but i'm not sure. I know there is no degree required to become a CO but is there anything that looks particularly good on an application for a CO?

    Thanks

If you want to be an Animal Control Officer get involved as much as you can with all aspects of taking care of a wide variety of animals. Get involved with animal shelters and volunteer work. You can look this up on the internet, they have a lot of good sites to give you ideas. I will give you one to look at.

As far as CO maybe somebody else can help you with that.

I put in for ACO in Maricopa County many years ago. The process for me included:

Seeing the position available through the county jobs listing
    Completing an application
Coming in for a skills test, which included driving the truck and putting the dog in the truck.

That is as far as I got. I just about strangled the dog with the pole, but never managed to get the damn thing in the truck. =P

AZ was in desperate need of COs for many years and had an expedited process for hiring. They are still in desperate need, but aren't hiring right now. Check with your state DOC website for requirements. AZDOC just wanted you breathing at the time, as I recall. You may have needed your HS diploma or GED, but I do not remember.
You're allowed to have a life, you know. I read it in a manual somewhere. - Eugene Matuzak - Timecop
