In Oregon, it's really hard to get a not guilty by insanity plea. That's one of the the few things the liberal state doesn't like. You have to be completely Fruit Loops in a lot of other areas of your life too.

I'm guessing they're looking at some time in a psychiatric hospital . . . . but lots of those in ours, the judge has ruled that they be "detained at Her Majesty's pleasure" for serious offences or based on a successful insanity defence, and they normally die there. But they are extreme cases, nothing like this.
He stopped his car on the bridge and put his harards lights on . . . . he's just a twisted evil SOB. . . .just like that Portland woman and all the others who have killed their kids.
@marinepilot . . . yes, that sounds fair to me . . . . more than fair really.
@RDS . . . I take your point regarding extra police, NYPD did it in conjuction with other measures, like a zero tollerance and pushed down many of the major indices. If you/I looked into in closer, we might discover more crooks were arrested/charged/imprisoned, thus taking these anti-social malefactors off the streets.

Now that I think about it, when we were saturating the streets with police was also the time that the liberals had the silly idea of rehab going strong. Crooks were even joking that they'd be back on the street before we finished out paperwork and sometimes they were right. It takes a combination of incarceration and punishment as well as a show of force.

The single fathers lobby is using this case to highlight their cause? Are they really saying this "dad" should not have had his access reduced?? I would think the logical conclusion is this individual should have had his rights terminated with no access and then his daughter would still be alive.

One hopes there is a special place in Hell for the evil people who make, trade, and possess child pornography. Until they get there, we are committed to putting them in jail. -- David Procopio, Massachusetts State Police
Most of these single dads groups are full of nutcases. When I went through my first divorce in 1976, the judge made it clear that she didn't like men and cops in particular. It was awful.
I went to a meeting of one of these organizations to see if I could get some redress and realized immediately that most of these guys were psychos. I slipped out the back door as quickly as I could.
