    Law Enforcement Jobs

    Hey guys. Do you know of any LE positions which do not require 20/100 vision uncorreced? I ask because I'm almost done with my LE degree (once I finish skills). If my eyes dont hold up to the standards are there any other fields I could join. I'd really hate to waste my degree because of my eyes. Thanks!

    Most police departments have web sites. Those that are hiring usually have their minimum requirements. Why not google the departments you have any interest in at all?

    I know I'm old, but when I was looking for jobs, there was no Internet. I actually had to make phone calls and write real letters. Today, you guys have the Internet and all sorts of search engines that requires seconds to find out all sorts of information. And you're still too lazy to even do that.

    Besides, a lot of this was hacked out in the other thread you started.

    I don't know about inidividual departments having more strict standards than POST but here's the minimum certification requirement in AZ. You can have 20/200 uncorrected and still be in the top medical category if you wear soft contacts. Not a LEO, though.

    D. Vision and hearing. Vision and hearing meeting the following requirements are classified in Category I:

    1. Visual acuity of:

    a. 20/20 or better uncorrected;

    b. 20/20 or better, corrected by spectacles or hard contact lenses, if uncorrected acuity is 20/80 or better. The applicant shall demonstrate satisfactory adaptation to the contact lenses; or

    c. 20/20 or better, corrected by soft contact lenses, if the uncorrected acuity is 20/200 or better. The applicant shall demonstrate satisfactory adaptation to the contact lenses;
