"Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have made a difference in the world. Marines don't have that problem." - Ronald Reagan

Whenever I see one of those signs I look up, and so far I've never seen an aircraft.
hahahaha . . .no repeat offenders, do you think it will catch on?

"The beauty of life is, while we cannot undo what is done, we can see it, understand it, learn from it and change. So that every new moment is spent not in regret, guilt, fear or anger, but in wisdom, understanding and love." ~ Jennifer Edwards
That is great. I E-mailed it to the rest of the traffic unit.![]()

That was priceless! Last time I saw one of those signs I was so busy looking in the sky I almost ran off the road!

I'M LOST! I've gone out to find myself but should I return before I get back, please ask me to wait!
I am a victim of the Florida Highway Patrol Aircraft! Trust me, they do exist! It was back in 1989 and we were on our way to Daytona Beach for spring break.

"DON'T TOUCH THE TROOPER!"
Oregon State Police used to use aircraft, but I suppose it got too expensive. They switched to using M/C cops instead. The planes didn't have that firepower though, they were little Cessna 152's or 172's.

There weren't any when I started, but they came back about 10 years or so ago. They work mostly the freeways in the metro area.
They've changed the training a lot. My dept. puts on the M/C training for the whole state. Way back, the guys were mostly 'hot dogs" and crashed a lot! At some point, saner heads took over the program and we rarely have guys crash now. Frankly, I don't know if OSP send their troopers there or not, they've always been above us peons, but I imagine they at least use a lot of our methods. We've been training M/C cops for many decades.
The training is pretty tough too. We wash out (or at least used to) nearly half the people that go to the school.
