DEA Agent Pushes Privacy Claim in Appeals Court - The BLT: The Blog of Legal Times
I think everyone has seen the video and it is no doubt embarrassing to Agent Paige (in school Glock demonstration). I'm not sure what was improper about its release. I can see how a professional would be upset about it but I would of probably taken a different tack and make the talk show circuit. Make it a "Mea Culpa" opportunity to talk about drug awareness and firearm safety and reassert his professionalism. I'm not a LEO though and I would probably be pretty upset if my career was compressed into a 2 minute video. That's usually relegated to careers in politics, not professionals.

Several elements must be met in the action the agent brought against the government. The judge could not find those elements in his lawsuit, hence why it was dismissed and summary judgment was granted in favor of the government.

Employee of the government (reduced privacy) + in public giving a lecture + to a group of citizens = NO RIGHT TO PRIVACY. Guy sounds like like a major a-hole. You don't "talk" down to anyone, especially your audience. He did, and not only did it backfire, but it made it him look out to be an idiot. That is what happens when you get complacent.

FWIW, I didn't ever know this guy's name until he started the lawsuit. For someone who's mad that the situation is in the public domain, he sure seems to be working hard to keep it there.
