Early Dec 10, got my new IOEV - Integrated Operational Equipment Vest - and we were working an op in Flinders St, Melbourne near Federation Square during a working day. We were on foot pulling over people who felt the need to contribute to the Govt's budget by way of on the spot fines.
Wearing my new 4-5 kg IOEV, I saw my next client and stepped off the curb . . . an oldish curb, slightly higher than your regular curb and had to put my foot down a touch further that I expected. Well . . with my centre of gravity not where it has been for the past few decades, I lost balance . . . falling forward. . . . spread eagle . . on my stomach . . sliding across both lanes. My penalty notice book visited the other side of the road. Having cat reflexes. . . once I'm on my stomach . . jumped up in flash as if nothing had happened, heard my crew laughing, turned around and saw the front window @ Nandos chocka of laughing punters . . . . could be worse, it could be on you tube, right?
