I had a case like that once. We suspected this woman that had just moved to town was using her kids to steal from shops. We did not know her name. Saw her driving and her car was a piece of garbage so we decided to stop her and defect her car and use that as the legal way to obtain her details.
She gave us her name and we ran it. Turns out she had used this name several times before and got away with it, however on teh previous occasions she had not shown up to court so her alias now had several warrants. We advised her that she had warrants and would be arrested. At this point she decided to tell us her real name, so we arrested her for stating a false name.
Further enquiries showed that she had been caught numerous times using her alias which had resulted in charges that turned to warrants. We then had to charge her (under her real name) for those charges again, as well as a false name charge for each of those. In addition we defected her car off the road and charged her with a heap of theft matters. She had only just moved into town and felt pretty cocky given that she figured the local cops didn't know her. She moved out of town soon after that.
