Thanks all.
Changing from dept to dept here is a joke, given that there is only seven depts and the laws do not vary that much. When I went from my first to my second it was not so bad. They recognised my previous service, I did a quick course to familiarise myself with my new dept and I was back on the road and held my seniority. Got promoted pretty quckly and was treated like a guy with 6 years experience from the first day.
On this move, I had to go to the Academy again and do a course that was twice as long as my last lateral course, and taught me half as much (if anything) and then I was put with a mentor for 8 weeks and then treated as a first year constable for the next twelve months. Not alllowed outside without someone holding my hand. Not only was it frustrating for me, it was embarrassing to the officers tasked to "supervise" me who had two years service, knowing I had been in my second dept longer than that, not to mention the 6 years in my first dept.
It feels good to be back where I was, but the system is ridiculous.
