The only other benefit is that her father wont be able to bring in the shotgun that he is holding to your back to get you to marry her...
Eunice: A .22? Oh you've gotta be kidding me. That's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Detective Greenly: Yeah, or bringing a really small gun... to a gunfight.

There is no benefit to getting married. It doesn't matter if you are in a courthouse, church, outside, indoors, or anywhere.
One Big Ass Mistake America
I got married in a court house. It was cheap.
<.< >.> <.<
thats a good benefit though right?
My last marriage was by an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas. That's the only one that worked!

I personally wouldn't. I find it about as romantic as getting married in a jail cell.
Maybe. I figure I'm only getting married once, so I'd kinda like the wedding in a church...
Although a wedding on the beach is nice. I guess if I was reallly in love it wouldn't matter, a ring and a piece of paper doesn't define one's love. That's just my .2 cents.![]()

Girls generally want to have the pretty place. Guys, generally want to get it over with and get on with the evening! My wife and I are on the same page, but her Mom wanted the pretty wedding, so it was a full fledged shindig.
I on the other hand, have been known to argue about antiquated things such as bed frames. This isn't the 16th century, so there shouldn't be bugs & rats you want to be elevated from.
If its love, it shouldn't matter where you get married. Marriage, like just about everything else in life has been commercialized. All the holidays are ruined, and I think some were even made up to squeeze more money from us. Weddings too! Why else buy a dress that will never be worn again?
For the record, I'm not bitter or anything..![]()

**DISCLAIMER** I'm not a current LEO, but have six years experience with two city PD's in NC and TX as a sworn officer. I'm in the process of returning to LEO work ASAP.
I don't know if getting married in a courthouse as opposed to elsewhere would have any particular "benefits"...the result is basically the same.
Personally, I'd be OK with either...a legitimate wedding would be nice though.
I'm pretty sure my parents got married in a courthouse, but that was because my mom's adoptive mother tried to control the whole wedding--she even attempted to move the date and have my mom move back to Canada during that time. So, my parents eloped. They were completely fine with it, but they didn't want a big wedding to begin with.
Anyways, I'll go crawl back into silence now...![]()
I figure since marriages these days last about 2 years(I know I'm generous), why go out of control?
As the sexy PathosLogos said, the result is the same and you lose over half of what you own in the end anyway.
