^^^^ All kidding aside, I don't think marriage is such a bad thing (but then again I've never been divorced).

And anyway, research shows that you're supposed to be better off married, all you cynics

Well I have been pondering this rite of should I walk down the aisle, with no family who I really could care less about on either side .Ahh, the church wedding and the time worn tradition of long dresses tuxes, and where am I going to find a a flower girl or two and a ring bearer? Seriously can they be rented? O....so which church should I pick? Raised Baptist. I agree more with the Episcopalian or Methodist. Other than going to funerals which I have more practice at. You know I have all of April1 to start getting busy.I wish I could say I did and don't. You know if there were some real tax incentives not involving having kids's, already have one and don't want or need any more. Plus My Sweetie has a couple of they know everything as in let me tell you where you can rent a limo to get that special tat

Anyone tell me a cheap foreign country I can get legal paper work which is legal in Texas

I don't think it really matters where you do it, it's the commitment/dedication that you put into it that is important, a big huge fancy wedding will not guarantee you a life of happiness and bliss...as long as you love the person you are with and you can stay devoted to them that's the important factors not the fine china that you will serve at your reception..... just my two cents...

As a parish priest, I officiate at lots of weddings-- mostly in the church, occasionally in someone's home or yard.

There is no significance to big or small, formal or casual, it is just a matter of personal taste.

I personally think it puts the emphasis in the wrong place, to stage a wedding as if it was grand opera or a movie by Cecil B. DeMille. But that's me, I'm a pretty low-key person.

You and your bride should think about what has meaning for you and the folks you want to have share the occasion. There is no right or wrong to how you do it, so be free.

I know several people who got married at the court house.

My wife and I did a very small wedding on a cruise ship and then took the cruise as our honeymoon. Total cost was was well under $2K. That's wedding and cruise.

The thing I don't understand is people paying thousands and thousands of dollars to get married. I think that's a total waste & if my daughters think I'm paying thousands for them to have a big wedding they are seriously mistaken.
    Wrong door, buddy

I hate seeing a young couple go into debt so they can produce a spectacular wedding and party!

There are many more important uses for their money, especially if they are intending to have a home, and raise children.

Edited to add: my Dad always told me his wedding gift to me would be a ladder! LOL
