I have to change my mind. I would want to be in LE in Hawaii. The weather is nice year round for running. Then I would transfer to Iowa for three months during deer season. Then I would come to TX for two months to finish hunting season.

    Ok, those are my picks!

Agreed. I'd go with none of the above, I have my "dream" LE job.

Your question has flaws. The NYSP hire rarely now and when they do, your chances are slim to none. Dream about Nassau/Suffolk as they hire by a lottery system. Plus why hire a newbie when they can hire somebody who was already a cop and knows the law and rules.

NYPD is the wise choice. It carries "resume power" when you retire and is known around the world. Tell somebody in England you are NYPD or China and watch a face light up. They know the brand. Plus its the greatest job on earth. You can do it all in the city so nice they named it twice. You rather sit in a car running radar on some highway in upstate NY where all you can smell is cow crap or respond to bank robberies, assaults and other stuff?

In full disclosure, my old man did 25 years with the NYSP and I am former NYPD.
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

I wouldn't want to work for any of them. New York is too damned cold :p

While growing up, my mom tells me "you can be anybody you want to be"... well apparently the cops call that "Identity Theft"... Thanks Mom :)

Knowing what I know after 30+ yrs in the latter, i shoulda been a Trooper. Movement within the NYPD is prolly a bit easier, with more units to go to, but I'd give an arm and a leg tobe done with NYC.
