    Wiper Blades

Looking for some input on a new set of wiper blades. I'm currently using the Anco Aero series but have found over the years that they still want to lift off the windshield at 75-80mph. Looking for something that will stay down at high speed. I know rain-x helps but I find my self too lazy to be applying it every couple of weeks.

    Any Opinions?
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

Can't help you in the blade department... but I thought they made Rain-X windshield wiper fluid now? That way you wouldn't have to apply it all the time.

The wipers themselves make little difference in high wind conditions and none of the little scoops & wings I've seen on some wipers blades IMO actually improve anything. Avoid like the plague anything with more area than stock, they just make liftoff sooner.

You might look for wiper arms that advertise higher tension or replace your current ones with new if your vehicle is over 4 years old. Springs wear out, while they may not have broken, tension fades over time. There's also the chance that you may be able to source heavier springs for your current arms.

I picked up a set of beam-style blades and love 'em:

Rain-X LatitudeŽ Wiper Blades | Windshield Wipers

They clean better and more evenly than any blades I've ever owned. I don't know how they'll perform in snow/ice yet, but I'll find out soon. I'm pretty confident they'll do well since they have no gaps to allow ice chunks to make them warp off the glass and cause streaks. The only spot they miss is way off to the right side of the windshield, where the curve of the glass is such that the end of the wiper can't make contact.

They're a little pricey if you buy them at the auto parts store. I found them on sale at a local home improvement outlet store for about half-price, so I bought two sets for each of my two vehicles.

Buffboy is right in that you might need new wiper arms if they're lifting at higher speeds.

I personally can't stand anything made by Rain-x.

I use the Bosch Icon ones, and have had zero problems w/ lifting at any speed. I'm a huge fan of these frameless blades. Also, there's no where on them that snow can get stuck, causing high/low spots.

    100% AGREE

These puppies are great! That curve in them leaves no streaks and lasts. I put them on my car, the wifes, and even the government car. I can speak about the ice/snow and winter with them. AWESOME! They clear it without problem and last. My G car travles 25 miles on the NJ Turnpike every day at 75-80 and they perfomr great.

I change mine December 1 and May 1. They are expensive, but if you have a Pep Boys near you, they are Buy one/get one right now. I just paid $26 for two.
-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

What is this "rain" you speak of?

Can't speak for police cars but I go for the cheapest ones and replace them often because the sun destroys them.

That wet stuff that you get 15 inches of in three hours, once a year.

These are the ones I use: Valeo ULTIMATEŽ Wiper Blades (Hook-Lock) and from the look of it they are the same concept as the RainX ones. They are $19.95 but they are always a buy one get one free deal since.

Ive have bad personal experience with those new "Armour-all" reflex wipers, you can buy them at Canadian Tire for way too much, and they freeze up in the winter, quite dangerous in a snow storm. Would not recommend. However, at work we do buy Napa brand wipers, and work quite well in the climate as well at speeds.
