Gitmo detainee acquitted of all but 1 charge in NY

Gitmo detainee acquitted of all but 1 charge in NY - Yahoo! News

Well I hope this ends the discussion of NY trials. These were crimes committed during combat. Fire up the tribunals.

Sad that this happened in NY of all places. Circumstances of his capture, history and associates make his detention as a combatant obvious. Hold him until hostilities cease. Try him for any war crimes. He serves his time after his combatant detention is over.

One hopes there is a special place in Hell for the evil people who make, trade, and possess child pornography. Until they get there, we are committed to putting them in jail. -- David Procopio, Massachusetts State Police

Here's one you and I totally agree on, Mikey. Yes, this makes me sick to my stomach. They threw out the other 270+ charges (sorry, I can't open any links). This is the grey I was referring to on the battlefield. Soldiers are not primarily concerned about the guy's due process....they're concerned more about getting to cover. Yet, here they're being held to our law enforcement standards instead of the reality of combat conditions.

At least that poor guy didn't get his feeling hurt and all the hippies can go home feeling good about the 'oneness' of the world!

I'm not that old, but in my USMC training days, when attacked from a direction - everyone turned and immediately opened up while assaulting the threat. Likewise, the prescribed way to clear a room was toss in a garage, spray the room THEN enter. I bet those poor guys now have to have a JAG officer with them on patrol!

    Under attack...Sir, can we respond?
    What color are the tracers?
    Uh, we are pinned down.
Can you see a target? If so, are you sure they are firing at you?
    Can we have an airstrike?
Neg, too much paperwork. Perhaps you should try to make contact first and find out why they feel the need to attack us.
    (silence)

God bless those guys for what they have to put up with these days!
For me, before there was the Thin Blue Line, there was the Blood Stripe! Semper Fi!

Our fear reminds us that we are not God, our faith reminds us that He is!

**DISCLAIMER** I'm not a current LEO, but have six years experience with two city PD's in NC and TX as a sworn officer. I'm in the process of returning to LEO work ASAP.
